I spent 10 days in Venezuela with Neil Bostock, Chris Bradshaw and Guy Kirwan after a seven week trip to Brazil. Conditions were little different from my previous 10 day trip, to Bolivar, in Feb 1993: dry and still fairly cheap. A Budget car was used again, with some problems with the hire terms and the radio stolen (window broken) in Maracay. All the sites visited were new to me and excellent, except for Caripe where we failed to see Grey-headed Warbler or Venezuelan Flowerpecker in the one morning available (over-ambitious?). I did see an amazing 429 species, including 56 'lifers', and could have seen a further 20-30 or more had I been as alert as Guy and had we stopped at the reservoir near Caripe. The Caura area (including Rio Taguire) was particularly rich - we recorded 240 species in the 3 and a bit days spent there.

Site details are well-covered elsewhere, namely:-
